SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol)

SMTP is an abbreviation for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol.

SMTP is an Email Protocol that manages to send the Emails to the server. Simply put, SMTP deals with Email Sending. In the Yahoo Mail server setting, SMTP delivers the Emails from the sender to the server. After that comes the role of SMTP relay; this is a service that forwards the email from the sender’s server to the receiver’s server.SMTP can not be used for receiving Emails. POP (Post Office Protocol) 

POP is an older Email standard that downloads the message from the receiving server and then deletes it; hence the Email can be downloaded to a single device. Post Office Protocol or POP should be used when you have an especially designated device for Emails, and you prefer to receive the messages offline.

Otherwise, IMAP is the most suitable option for receiving Emails for accessing Email on multiple devices.

How to Setup Yahoo Mail Settings 

Now you must be thinking about where you need to enter these settings for correct Yahoo Mail setup. First, you need to understand how the process flows. Yahoo is a mail service provider, which executes the operation to send and receive the Emails. While another service provider is a Mail app or email programs like Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird, generally, you will use these email programs, or email climbs to access your inbox or messages. Now you need to do IMAP and SMTP settings in email program account settings.
