  • Then, type your preferred email name into the “New email” text field and select the domain name (@hotmail.com) of your email address by clicking the downward-facing arrow key
  • Now, in the next step, you have to enter your password into the “Create Password” text field which is just below the “New email” field. Make sure your password is case-sensitive
  • Uncheck the box “Send me promotional emails from Microsoft” if you don't want to receive product offers from Microsoft. In case you want to receive promotional emails, skip this step
  • Now, click the “Next” button shown in the blue color just below the “Create password” text box
  • Enter your first name and last name into the required respective text field
  •  Then, give a click on the “Next” button
  •  Choose a country or region by clicking on the “Country/region” drop-down box and tap on your current location. Outlook will begin detecting automatically and filling the desired information for you
  • Enter your date of birth. In the “Birthdate” section, click the Month box and select your birth month, then repeat for the Day and Year boxes
  • Tap the “Next” button
  • After that, you have to enter the verification code. You'll see a list of distorted letters and numbers in a box in the middle of the page; type the contents of the box into the “Enter the characters you see” text field


  • You can click the “New” button to generate a new code
  • You can also click the “Audio” button to have the code read distinctly to you


  • Click “Next”. This blue button is at the bottom of the window. Once you correctly entered the verification code, clicking the “Next” button will create your account instantly and take you to the Outlook tutorial directly 

Hurray! Your Hotmail account is now created. The next step you need to perform for Hotmail Setup is, configure Hotmail Settings. Here is what you have to do for the configuration settings of your Hotmail account:

IMAP:

  • Server: imap-mail.outlook.com
  • SSL: true-implicit
  • Port: 993 (default)
  • User: pat@hotmail.com 

POP3:

  • Server: pop-mail.outlook.co
  • SSL: true-implicit
  • Port: 995 (default)
  • User: pat@hotmail.com


NOTE: POP access must be turned on via a web interface. In the web interface, click the “Gear” icon in the top-right corner and then select “Options”.

Depending on the UI version:

  • On the Options window, click “Mail/Accounts/POP and IMAP”. In the “POP options” section select “Yes”.
  • On the Options window, click “Connect devices and apps with POP” link. In the “POP” section mark “Enable”.

SMTP:

  • Server: smtp-mail.outlook.com
  • SSL: true-explicit
  • Port: 587 (default)
  • User: pat@hotmail.com
